Internet-famous Stores and New Consumption Brands Born in Old Warehouses
Seven or eight out of ten internet-famous bloggers in Beijing must have been to Langyuan Station. Originally an obsolete area with old warehouses, Langyuan Station sits on the northeastern 5th Ring Road, with no subways or residential areas around – seemingly, it was unlikely to be an internet-famous attraction, but now, it has become one. Through synchronous construction and operation, Langyuan Station has incubated more than 100 internet-famous stores within two years, becoming one of Beijing’s first batch of consumption brand incubation bases.
Continued Industrial Style
Thirty warehouses and 2.23-kilometer branch railways have been kept, and red-brick walls, hill-shaped ridges, and concrete finishes are all clearly visible. In addition, such supporting facilities as watchtowers, guardhouses, and lightning rods have also been retained.
Young People-Favored Treasure Stores
Many queer but cute shops going viral on social media are in Langyuan Station. From the gas station-like burger shop to the castle-like pink select shop to the Moroccan-style coffee shop, most young people tend to stop to take casual yet stylish photos.
Industrial Public Space
With high ceilings, the red-brick warehouses are suitable for being rebuilt into photo studios, color modulation studios, and film and television laboratories. Before being opened to the public, Langyuan Station had attracted businesses to settle in it among leading film and television enterprises as well as advertising agencies and MCN fashion and design companies, to jointly create an ecology of the film and television entertainment industry.
