HISTORY AND CULTURE

Located in Eastern Beijing, Chaoyang District covers a total area of 470.8 square kilometres. It boasts a long history with primitive settlements engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry in the Lishuiqiao area in the north as early as the Neolithic era. As the ancient land of the States of Yan and Ji, Chaoyang occupied a key geological location in the Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties and thus carries rich historical heritages.
