What kind of tech ecosystem attracts so many international professionals to work, invest, and live in Chaoyang? In this episode, we have a conversation at the Headquarters of International Science and Technology Organizations with Jean-Philippe Lamarcade, CEO of EDF China, Michael Crook, co-founder of the Western Academy of Beijing, and Biman Najika Liyanage, Chief AI Officer of Wonder Technologies. Drawing on their experience in energy, education, and artificial intelligence, they share their insights on Chaoyang's innovation.
The International Ecological Lounge leverages Chaoyang District’s expansive green framework—urban parks, suburban parks and open landscapes—to integrate sports hubs, ecological lounges and sci-tech farms. Low-carbon raceways, smart waterfronts, mobile stages and boundless lawns interlink, enabling instant reconfiguration for competitions, exhibitions, summits, markets and guided tours. It’s where the world meets beneath the canopy, and the city receives guests in nature’s name.
It’s a framework established based on the Legislative Affairs Commission of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee and the primary-level legislative outreach offices of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of Chaoyang District.
Focusing on the international sci-tech organization clusters, Chaoyang District creates the international sci-tech lounge that integrates international scientific research exchanges, new technology releases, and cutting-edge technology applications relying on the sci-tech related industrial parks and exhibition halls within the district.
Anchored at the eastern end of Chang’an Avenue, with the Beijing CBD at its heart, this stretch commands a panoramic convergence of three landmark clusters—China World, EPIKA, and Guanghua. It is the city’s premier stage for international exhibitions, fashion showcases and business forums, hosting roughly 90% of Beijing’s international trade fairs and half of its global conferences each year.
Perched a hundred meters above the city, it commands sweeping views of Beijing’s skyline while integrating upscale dining, sightseeing, and international receptions. With seamless transitions between Michelin-starred dinners, diplomatic engagements, and high-end launches, it features a 360° screen that synchronizes with the breathtaking urban vista below. Every encounter is elevated above the clouds, starting a dialogue with the world.
