Over 50% of Beijing's international conferences and over 30% of international exhibitions are held in Chaoyang District. Chaoyang District has focused on its function as a window for international exchanges, a platform for world cultural exchanges and a national sports and leisure centre, and has created a high-quality living room for major diplomatic proceedings, such as the APEC China 2014, the 2015 World Championships on Athletics, the 2017 One Belt One Road International Summit, the 2018 China-Africa Cooperation Forum, and the 2019 Asian Civilization Dialogue. Many other high-end events have also been held in the district.

With its novel perspective and distinctive characteristics, Beijing Chaoyang International Customs Festival allows the general public to experience foreign customs without going abroad and impresses them with beautiful memories. The Festival has become one of the key projects of the annual Spring Festival major cultural activities in the district and even in Beijing.

Since its start, the Festival has invited 80 national performance groups and nearly 2,000 overseas artists to visit and perform. It presents foreign images, unique street performances and traditional Beijing street performances to visitors, so that visitors can enjoy the happy street amorous feelings.

In 2020, the "Global Exchange Liaison Window, World Culture Exchange Platform and National Sports Leisure Centre" was established.
