To accelerate the building of an e-CNY payment environment for Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games, with the aim of "promoting the spirit of striving forward", Beijing initiates a pilot program to use e-CNY, "Digital Carnival for 'JingCai' Strivers" (hereinafter referred to as "the activity"), in the latest consumption season.

The activity is co-organized by Beijing's municipal administrative centre, Dongcheng District, Chaoyang District, Haidian District, Shijingshan District and Yanqing District, and plans to distribute 200,000 "JingCai" digital red envelopes to those who apply for and win the award through the "JingCai" platform. Starting June 5, 2021, the "JingCai" platform will be available through the mobile applications of Bank of China and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. Each red envelope contains 200 yuan and can be spent at nearly 2,000 designated merchants. The red envelopes can be used from June 11 to June 20.

The activity focuses on the catering, accommodation, transport, tourism, shopping, entertainment, communications and other use cases during Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games, and offers e-CNY payment experiences in the core business districts of the city.

As a regular pilot program in the R&D of e-CNY, the activity will be a useful attempt to implement the policies of "two zones" (Integrated National Demonstration Zone for Opening up the Services Sector and the China (Beijing) Pilot Free Trade Zone) and promote the pilot application of fiat digital currency, and will also be an innovative move to build Beijing into an international consumption centre in a bid to well promote the payment environment building for Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

In a bid to improve the services of the smart city, and make Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games fantastic, Beijing will hold more "JingCai" activities and make more efforts to promote the e-CNY payment pilot program for Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games by steadily advancing the development of an e-CNY payment environment in key areas.
