The National Stadium (Birds’ Nest)
A total of 39 venues are to be used at the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, including 12 competition venues, 3 training venues and 24 non-competition venues. A major feature of the construction of the venues for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics is to maximize the use of the legacy of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
National Aquatics Centre (“Ice Cube”)
The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics venues reveal rich connotations and countless ingenuities in planning, design and construction, and they incorporate Chinese elements into the design. We can capture a glimpse of this from the names of the venues: Big Air Shougang (“Snow Flying Apsaras”), National Sliding Centre (“Snow Dragon”), National Ski Jumping Centre (“Snow Ruyi”), National Aquatics Centre (“Ice Cube”), National Speed Skating Oval ("Ice Ribbon"), etc. All the venues showcase China’s rich and profound culture.

Besides, adhering to the concept of “Green Olympics”, all new indoor venues of the Beijing Winter Olympics meet the three-star standard for green buildings, and other existing indoor venues meet the two-star standard for green buildings. At the end of 2020, all venues of the Beijing Winter Olympics achieved 100% green power supply, that is, electricity comes from wind or photovoltaic power generation. For this reason, the Beijing Winter Olympics will be the first Olympic Games in the 100-year history of the Olympic Games to use all green and clean electricity.
