Chaoyang District Registers 550 New Foreign-funded Enterprises from January to September, Ranking First in Beijing

From January to September this year, 550 foreign-funded enterprises were newly registered in Chaoyang District, marking the highest figure among all districts in Beijing and growing by 59.4 percent YoY, which accounted for 39.1 percent of the total in the city. Both the foreign investment in actual use and contractual foreign investment secured the evident YoY growth.

Hong Kong of China, Switzerland, Sweden, Japan, and Korea were the top five sources of foreign investment, contributing USD 10.53 billion in contractual foreign investment and accounting for 94.6 percent of the total (USD 11.13 billion) in Beijing.

Of the major foreign-funded projects, 47 enterprises were newly registered with each attracting more than USD ten million in contractual foreign investment, rising by 147.4 percent YoY. These enterprises attracted USD 1.77 billion in total, up by 58.9 percent YoY. 72 existing foreign-funded enterprises increased contractual foreign capital by more than USD ten million each, and 45 enterprises actually used more than USD ten million foreign investment each.  

In terms of industries, the top three sectors attracted the most contractual foreign investments, namely, scientific research and technical service industry, rental and business service industry, and information transmission, software and IT service industry. The major fields for further opening up the service sector attracted USD 9.57 billion in contractual foreign investment, rising by 164.5 percent and accounting for 85.7 percent of the total in Beijing.

To date, Chaoyang District has listed 285 projects related to the "Two Zones", of which 127 are foreign-funded ones. Chaoyang District ranks the first place in Beijing in both the total number of "Two Zones" projects and the proportion of foreign-funded projects. Of the 136 signed projects, there are 60 foreign-funded ones, while another 149 projects, with 67 foreign-funded projects, or 45 percent of the total, are under development.
