2022 “Reading Beijing” Continues
The 2022 “Reading Beijing” gives full play to the role of the city’s public libraries at all levels in the cause of reading for all in Beijing. The event promotes reading culture and adds a new function to cultural life by focusing on the book list of “Read Beijing, Read Classics, and Go Ahead for the Future”. The event will fill the public wisdom and power, and allow reading to facilitate the construction of a national cultural center in Beijing.
Since 2016, under the guidance of the Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, the “Reading Beijing – Capital Citizens Reading Series Cultural Activities” takes Beijing public libraries as the node to meet the new expectations of the spiritual and cultural life of the capital’s citizens. The activity vigorously creates a good atmosphere of love reading, reading good books and being good at reading in the whole society, and guides the general public to enhance their interest in reading, develop reading habits and improve their reading ability. Through reading, the public can promote Chinese culture and national spirit, and strive for the realization of the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
The 2022 “Reading Beijing” campaign is based on the three themes of “Read Beijing, Read Classics, and Go Ahead for the Future”. The activities include the city-wide recitation contest of “The Sound Moves Beijing”, the “Top Ten Reading Spaces – Grassroots Libraries Around People” promotion activity, the “Growing Up with Reading” theme activity, and the most beautiful book reviews collection and selection and other series of activities. Through expert-guided reading, field reading, and readers reading together, as well as new ideas of an innovative integration of culture and tourism, it can promote the establishment of a reading platform, the formation of a grassroots “reader” team, the creation of a reading activity brand, and the promotion of a number of model grassroots libraries. Professor Meng Man from the School of History and Culture, Minzu University of China served as this year’s reading promotion ambassador, accompanying readers to spend a fulfilling and wonderful reading time.
In addition, the online competition of the “The Sound Moves Beijing” city-wide recitation contest is now in full swing. The public can participate in the competition through the Capital Library of China’s WeChat public account. At the same time, citizens can enter the Capital Library of China’s Sina Weibo account to participate in the competition and are eligible for a chance to win a gift bag.
It is reported that the “Read Beijing” campaign has accompanied the citizens of the capital to go through six years. The 2022 “Reading Beijing” upgrades the form of activities, so that the concept of reading for all people is more deeply rooted and the atmosphere is stronger.
