Circular Mound Altar in Ritan Park Opens: Adorning Beijing CBD with Red Walls and Green Tiles
The Circular Mound Altar, one of the most well-known landscapes of Ritan Park located in Beijing CBD, was opened!
The Circular Mound Altar, surrounded by lush pines and cypresses, can be seen only 100m away from the entrance of Ritan Park. Encased by a vermilion circular brick wall, it is designed with three gates on the south, north, and east sides supported by six pillars apart from the main gate on the west side. Entering the Circular Mound Altar from the west gate, you can feel its solemnity directly. Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties used the square altar with nine steps on each side to offer sacrifices to the God of the Sun.
According to the staff, the Circular Mound Altar was officially opened to the public on January 20, 2023, and people can visit it for free from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day.
Tourists are delighted to hear the news.
