Chaoyang District Has 71 Museums and Will Have Built or Renovated 100 Museums by 2025
Focused on making Chaoyang a "city of museums, books, art, dual Olympics, and fashion", Chaoyang District has worked hard to promote brand building and improve the quality of public cultural services.
On March 2, the "City of Museums" Theme Forum was held in Chaoyang District. At the forum, Chaoyang District released the achievements in building the "City of Museums" and launched the "Chaoyang Map of the City of Museums". Up to now, Chaoyang District is home to 71 museums, which means there is one museum for every 54,000 people on average.

Now, Chaoyang District is home to 71 museums, which means there is one museum for every 54,000 people on average. Of them, there are 8 national museums, and 44% are non-state-owned museums. Thus, a museum system that consists of the three levels of "registered museum, dedicated museum, and museum space" and a museum layout that is characterized by "one core and four areas" have been formed.
Diverse dedicated museums become part of the urban life in Chaoyang District
According to a responsible official of Chaoyang District, the district has made some achievements in building the "City of Museums", with the number of registered museums in the district accounting for one-fifth of that in Beijing. "People in Chaoyang District feel as if they live in museums, and our museums will become part of people's daily lives."
According to the plan, Chaoyang District will complete the construction, renovation, and upgrading of 100 museums across the district by 2025. Next, Chaoyang District will bear in mind its current museum layout and the needs of urban development and local people. Based on this, Chaoyang District will give strong support to the construction of national museums, and constantly explore the intangible cultural heritage as well as support non-governmental and social forces in the construction of museums.
