Beijing CBD is the most concentrated area for the regional headquarters of multinational companies in the city. In recent years, CBD has implemented the “Headquarters Doubling Plan” relying on global investment promotion liaison stations, utilizing the policy superposition advantages of the National Comprehensive Demonstration Zone for Expanding Opening-up in the Service Sector and China (Beijing) Free Trade Pilot Zone. This plan aims to attract the global headquarters, regional headquarters, functional headquarters and private enterprise headquarters of multinational companies and encourage headquarters enterprises to upgrade from a single management function to a multi-functional direction such as new trade, operation and management, R&D and design, as well as procurement, sales and settlement.

In the first half of this year, Hamamatsu Photonics Trading (China) Co., Ltd. and Beijing Starbucks Coffee Co., Ltd. were recognized as regional headquarters of multinational companies. The number of regional headquarters of multinational companies in the CBD Functional Area increased to 110, accounting for 50% of Beijing’s total.

From January to June this year, the tax revenue of CBD Functional Area exceeded RMB 70 billion, up 20% year on year; nearly 7,000 new enterprises were registered, up more than 20% year on year. In the Functional Area, there are now nine buildings generating tax revenue exceeding RMB 1 billion, up one building compared to the same period last year. Notably, the first building to achieve a remarkable “RMB 10 billion” milestone has emerged.
