On the afternoon of October 11, a delegation from the Cyprus Parliament visited the Beijing Chaoyang District Grassroots Legislative Contact Point of the Legislative Affairs Commission (LAC) of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (Nanmofang Township Legislative Contact Station) by invitation.

Since its establishment, the Chaoyang District Grassroots Legislative Contact Point has played a significant role in promoting the scientific and democratic transformation of legislation. Through the "Legislative Express", a large number of national and local legislative projects have been brought into grassroots communities to solicit opinions and suggestions.

"The grassroots legislative contact point is an important way for our democratic legislation and a concrete form of our implementation of the important concept of whole-process people's democracy." During the symposium, Chen Hongzhi, Director of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Chaoyang District, provided detailed explanations on the development of the people's congress system, the practice of whole-process people's democracy, and the performance of NPC deputies at all levels.

How can grassroots legislative contact points better meet the needs of the people? During the visit, the Cyprus parliamentary delegation inquired about ways and methods for grassroots participation in national legislation.

Chen Hongzhi explained that in recent years, the People's Congress of Chaoyang District has conducted activities like "Deputies' Central Contact with Voters Theme Month" based on the "home stations" of deputies and organized activities such as concentrated deputy discussions, inspections, and research, while also operating an online platform for deputy contact stations. As of August 2024, the online platform has collected over 12,000 feedback and suggestions from voters.
