The Policy Promotion Event for APEC and DEPA Economies Targeting Entry into Chile is Successfully Held
On the afternoon of November 14, 2024, the Foreign Affairs Office of Chaoyang District People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, in conjunction with the Management Committee of Chaoyang Park, Zhongguancun Science Park, successfully organized the Policy Promotion Event for APEC and DEPA Economies Targeting Entry into Chile at the IN. GEN Centre. This event was held in collaboration with the Embassy of Chile in China, aiming to present Chile’s business environment, investment policies, and visa facilitation measures and provide valuable information and guidance to enterprises interested in expanding into Chile.
The event gathered guests from the Embassy of Chile in China, the Chaoyang District Bureau of Commerce of Beijing Municipality, the Chaoyang District Bureau of Culture and Tourism of Beijing Municipality, the Chaoyang District Bureau of Data of Beijing Municipality, the Investment Promotion Service Center of Chaoyang District, and other pertinent government authorities, as well as representatives from diverse enterprises to explore investment opportunities and business prospects in Chile.
In his opening address, Mr. Lin Lin, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Chaoyang District People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, emphasized Chaoyang District’s role as Beijing’s economic hub and innovation leader. He acknowledged the significance of strengthening ties and cooperation with the international market. Mr. Lin highlighted the favorable investment environment and preferential policies of Chile as a major economy in Latin America, noting the excellent opportunities Chile offers for Chinese enterprises to venture into the South American market. He expressed his hope that the event would provide enterprises with valuable policy insights and facilitate their successful entry into Chile.
Subsequently, His Excellency Mauricio Hurtado, Ambassador of Chile to China, delivered a speech. He stressed the Chilean government’s commitment to economic cooperation with China and the stable policies and investment environment that Chile offers, which present new business opportunities for Chinese enterprises. Ambassador Hurtado specifically mentioned Chile’s investment potential in sectors such as information technology, energy, and agriculture, encouraging Chinese enterprises to actively explore the Chilean market.
Ms. Feng Shaojing, Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Chaoyang Park, Zhongguancun Science Park and Director of the Chaoyang District Bureau of Science, Technology, and Information Technology, spoke about Chaoyang District’s role as Beijing’s technological innovation hub. She highlighted the district’s dedication to promoting technological innovation and international cooperation and accelerating the development of Beijing’s digital economy core area. Chaoyang Park of Zhongguancun Science Park is home to numerous world-leading digital economy innovation enterprises and teams, achieving remarkable success in information technology, artificial intelligence, and digital security, with strong international competitiveness and market expansion capabilities. Ms. Feng expressed her hope that through this event, enterprises in Chaoyang District would gain a deeper understanding of Chile’s investment environment and preferential policies, further explore the international market, and achieve win-win progress. She also announced that Chaoyang District will establish more platforms for international exchanges and cooperation, assisting enterprises in going global through various initiatives such as the “Swift Action” program.
During the event, Mr. Sergio Valenzuela, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of Chile in China, introduced Chile’s investment environment, highlighting its advantages in economic development, infrastructure construction, and innovative technologies. Mrs. Llacolén Lefever, Agricultural Counselor of the Embassy of Chile in China, explained Chile’s bidding system, emphasizing transparency and fair competition in the Chilean market.
In subsequent sessions, InvestChile presented a comprehensive and engaging video on investments in Chile’s science and technology sector. Ms. Zhao Hui, Deputy Chief Representative of the Beijing Representative Office of Banco de Chile, provided a detailed overview of Chile’s financial environment. Mrs. Nadín Guggisberg, Consul of the Embassy of Chile in China, further elaborated on Chile’s visa policies, aiding enterprises in understanding the visa application process and policy facilitation.
In the final interactive session, representatives from participating enterprises engaged in in-depth exchanges with the guests on Chile’s investment opportunities, market access, and visa policies. Through this event, Chaoyang District strengthened its cooperation with Chile in the fields of economy, science and technology, and investment, offering valuable information and practical guidance to enterprises aiming to expand into Chile. The event enhanced enterprises’ understanding of business operations in Chile and promoted in-depth exchanges between China and Chile in emerging sectors such as the digital economy and green development. In the future, the Foreign Affairs Office of Chaoyang District will continue to collaborate with relevant government authorities in the district to provide support for enterprises entering the international market and help them succeed in global competition.
