Orange Alert for Lightning Issued Today

Attention!

It is forecast that strong lightning may occur in Beijing from 15:00 to 23:00 on May 16, 2025, accompanied by a short-lived gale with its wind strength over force 8 (or short-term heavy rainfall, or hail). Lightning and gale disasters are likely to occur.

Precautions are advised for your own safety.

1. If you are working outdoors, stay away from high ground and trees, and stop any work at heights or over water.

2. Avoid touching exposed metal objects, such as shovels, antennas, water pipes, wire fences, or gas pipes.

3. Close and stay away from doors and windows, and avoid using phones or other plugged-in electrical devices.

4. Be aware of the potential for short bursts of high winds, heavy rain, or hailstorms that may accompany thunderstorms.
