A Two-Way Effort Between Chinese-Thai Cultural Exchanges: Fangcaodi Students Visited the Royal Thai Embassy, Beijing, as “Little Diplomats”
On May 21, 2026, 40 student representatives from the Dongba Campus of Beijing Chaoyang Fangcaodi International School (short for “Fangcaodi) were invited to the Royal Thai Embassy, Beijing, for the “Little Diplomats” Cultural Exchange Program. Through immersive interaction, the students experienced the rich cultural charms of both nations and conveyed a heartfelt message of friendship.
A Journey of Friendship: Visiting the Embassy
Yang Yan, Director of the Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Department at Fangcaodi, and Qiao Haiyan, Head of Fangcaodi’s Dongba Campus, led the delegation in launching this cultural exchange initiative alongside officials from the Embassy.
Duansib Padmasundara Cullen, Minister-Counselor of the Royal Thai Embassy, delivered a welcoming address, expressing her hope that the Fangcaodi students would become little diplomats of friendship between China and Thailand and grow through a journey of mutual learning.
Cultural Experience: The Land of Smiles
Guided by staff from the Embassy’s Cultural Office, students enjoyed an immersive exploration of Thai culture.
Through engaging interactions, the children gained a deeper understanding of the “Land of Smiles” and had a truly rewarding experience.

Chinese and Thai cultures took center stage together, creating a warm and vibrant atmosphere of exchange.
Hands-on Practice: Joyful Interaction
Students enthusiastically painted traditional simulated masks of Khon, a classical dance drama of Thailand, discovering the charm of exotic art through their own creativity.
They learned traditional Thai dances from the Embassy’s Cultural Office staff. As they moved in harmony with the rhythm, the laughter and interaction bridged cultural gaps and nurtured a deeper friendship
Gifts of Friendship: May the Bond Last Forever
1. Student representatives presented gifts with Chinese characteristics to convey their heartfelt wishes.
2. Fangcaodi presented its students’ calligraphy and traditional handicrafts to the Embassy.
Stepping out of the classroom and into the embassy, Fangcaodi students experienced an exchange, an encounter, and a lasting friendship.
