On May 29, the China-U.S. Youth Tree-Planting Activity was held at the Chaoyang School of Beijing No. 2 Middle School. Teachers and students from Avenues The World School in New York visited the school, where the two sides engaged in friendly exchanges, established sister-school ties, and jointly planted a “friendship forest”.

This event advocated that youth knows no borders, encouraging young people from both countries to communicate more, learn from each other, enhance mutual understanding, and foster friendships. With the sister-school partnership as a starting point, it aims to continuously deepen people-to-people exchanges and the friendly relations between the two sister cities.

The two schools introduced their respective educational characteristics and reached consensus on regular youth exchanges. Student representatives from China and the U.S. shared their daily study routines, lives, and aspirations. They engaged in interactive Q&A sessions covering schoolwork, hobbies, sports, and music, effectively broadening their horizons and deepening mutual understanding.

A memorandum of understanding on sister-school cooperation was signed at the event, launching long-term, institutionalized inter-school exchanges. Teachers and students from both schools jointly planted crabapple saplings and co-created the China-U.S. Youth Friendship Forest, embodying their hopes for cross-border friendship.

This event also featured a friendly basketball match. American students enjoyed immersive experiences in school-based curriculum such as drama performance and low-altitude drone assembly, strengthening their bonds through engaging interactions.

This event aligns with the consensus on China-U.S. people-to-people friendship. By using the youth as a bond to bridge friendly interactions, it continues to deepen cultural and people-to-people cooperation between the sister cities of Beijing and New York.
