    BMEEB communique indicates rich biodiversity, dropping carbon emissions in Beijing

    A recently released communique by Beijing Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau (BMEEB) indicated that in 2020, 82 species of natural and semi-natural ecosystems, including forests, scrublands, brushlands, meadows and grasslands, and wetlands, were recorded in Beijing based on field survey. A total of 5,086 species in Beijing were recorded, and 70 new species were found during this field survey, of which 12 were species newly registered in China. According to the communique, Beijing's complex topography possesses diverse habitat types and rich biodiversity, and plays a vital role in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei ecological landscape. Rich and diverse ecosystems provide the premise for biodiversity. The communique indicated that Beijing's air and surface water quality improved significantly in 2020.     24th Beijing Music Festival to Commence on October 9

    Poster for the 24th Beijing Music Festival Themed "Masters and Celebrations", the 24th Beijing Music Festival (BMF) is to be held from October 9 to October 24. Altogether 20 major concerts consisting of 18 different performances will be given to cover varying genres such as symphony, opera, vocal performances, chamber music, percussion, film scores, and more. The 24th BMF will both pay tribute to the masters and look back on the classics by intertwining the two themes of saluting to masters and celebrating with China. Many classical masterpieces will be performed, including pieces by Chinese composers Guo Wenjing, Chen Qigang, Tan Dun and Ding Shande.  Audiences at the festival will be able to gain a new appreciation for recent music in the traditional Chinese and classical style at the brand new "Music Carnival" in Taikoo Li …
